Markus Pettersson

Markus Pettersson is a young and truly talented tenor, a rising star that already has attracted great attention for his beautiful and expansive voice, passionate timbre and expressive stage presence. Markus has a Bachelor and Masters Degree from the University College of Opera in Stockholm and has also studied for three years at Vadstena College. Among recent and coming roles can be mentioned Gastone in la Traviata at GöteborgsOperan and Folkoperan, Don José at Folkoperan, Steuermann at Opera på Skäret, the leading role Mats in Kronbruden by Swedish composer Ture Rangström and Remendado in Carmen, both at GöteborgsOperan and Pong at Folkoperan, Stockholm.

Other previous roles are: Azor in Zemiré and Azor, produced by the Royal Opera in Stockholm, Pietro in Enrico di Borgogna at Vadstena Academy, Duca, Alfredo and Fenton in Viva Verdi at Ringsåkeroperan in Norway and Fenton in Falstaff at Läckö Opera in Sweden.

Markus is a frequently engaged concert soloist and his repertoire includes Mozart’s Requiem, Die Schöpfung (Haydn), Messa di Gloria (Puccini) and Petite Messe Solennelle (Rossini). He has appered in events like The Kirsten Flagstad festival and the national holiday celebrations on live television in Sweden. Other concert preformances includes MacBeth (MacDuff), Le Villi (Roberto) and Cavalleria Rusticana (Turiddu) at the Gothenburg Concert Hall.

Markus received the Jussi Björling Society’s Award 2015 and has received scholarships from Marianne & Sigvard Bernadottes Konstnärsfond 2013, William Lind 2012, Anders Wall Confidencen 2012, Christina Nilsson Society 2011.
