Hyojong Kim

The lyrical tenor Hyojong Kim studied at the Yonsei University in South Korea and with professor Scot Weir at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Germany. He has been a member of the opera ensemble at Theater Bremen since the season 2012/13. This season he appears as Leicester in Maria Stuarda, the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Andres in Wozzeck and Remedado in Carmen.

Among other roles that Mr Kim has sung at Theater Bremen you find Ruggiero in Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso, Michel, the male leading character in Bohuslav Martin?s’ dream opera ”Juliette, ou la clé des songes”, Janek in the Makropulos Case and Ferrando in Così fan tutte.

Before he joined the ensemble in Bremen Hyojong Kim was a member of the international Opera Elite Studio Theater Lübeck, his teacher at the Musikhochschule Lübeck was Michael Gehrke.

Mr Kim’s opera repertoire includes all major Mozart roles such as Tamino, Don Ottavio and Ferrando as well as Rodolfo in La Bohème and Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.

His repertoire for the concert stages includes Stabat Mater by Rossini, Lukas in Haydn’s oratorio The Seasons and St Matthew Passion.
