Jens-Erik Aasbø

Jens-Erik Aasbø is a captivating Norwegian bass who is proving to be a very diverse and popular performer. Season 2012/13 he appears as Friar Tuck in Robin Hood and First Nazarene in Salome at The Norwegian Opera in Oslo.

During his education both at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts he was exposed to a variety of roles and had the opportunity to study such roles as Geronimo in Il matromonio segreto, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Melisso in Alcina and Rocco in Fidelio. In his final productions during his training he performed the roles of Daland in Der fliegende Holländer and Collatinus in the Rape of Lucretia.

Jens-Erik has performed the role of Zuniga in Carmen at the Oslo Operafestival and had the honour of singing at the Ringsakeroperaen in Norway in their premiere of Ragnar Söderlind’s opera I Cancelliradens Dage.

During Jens-Erik’s training he worked with the highly acclaimed vocal coaches Kristin Kjølberg, Folke Bengtsson, Håkan Hagegård and Carsten Stabell who helped make him the dynamic and powerful performer he is today.
