Tor Lind has a lyric baritone with many colors, unusually great height and an enormous vocal range. On stage, he has attracted attention for his strong presence and natural scenic charisma in both comic and in serious roles.
Tor Lind was born in 1979 in Lund, and began singing in the boys’ choir in the age of seven. 2000 – 2003 he studied solo singing at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm for Christina Öqvist-Matton, and continued his education 2003-2006 at the Academy Opera in Copenhagen for Professor Kirsten Buhl Møller. Since a few years back he is working with Philip Doghan, Professor of Voice at the Royal Academy of Music.
Tor Lind has received scholarships from, among others the Royal Academy of Music’s funds, OVIS , Sandrews, Building and Danish Gramex and received the annual Lund Cultural Scholarship in 2006.
During his career, Mr Lind has among other toured with the Skånska Operan in the role of Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore and appeared as the press secretary Pressman in Frederik Österling’s acclaimed “cultural operetta“ Näsflöjten at the Vadstena Academy. He has also sang roles such as brother Bosse in Malmö Opera’s preset of the family opera “Karlsson på Taket”. Before then he sang the title role in Don Giovanni, a summer tour by the Opera Fabric(Operafabriken) in conjunction with Music in the South(Musik i Syd).
Mr Lind has worked with conductors such as Christian Badea, Nicholas Braithwaite, Hannu Lintu, Guido Ajmone-Marsan, Thomas Søndergaard, Tobias Ringborg and Pietro Rizzo and performed with orchestras such as the Tivoli Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Esbjerg ensemble and Athelas Sinfonietta around Denmark. Further on Tor lind is very interested in contemporary music and has appeared in three newly written operas.
Tor Lind’s recent and coming engagements include Figaro in The Barber of Seville at Skåneoperan and Sjahriar i Malmö Opera’s production of Thousand and One Night.
