Tor Lind has a lyric baritone with many colors, unusually great height and an enormous vocal range. On stage, he has attracted attention for his strong presence and natural scenic charisma in both comic and in serious roles.
The season of 2011/2012 Tor Lind is to be seen as brother Bosse in Malmö Opera’s preset of family opera, “Karlsson på Taket”. Before then, he has had time to sing the title role in Don Giovanni, a summer tour by the Opera Fabric(Operafabriken) in conjunction with Music in the South(Musik i Syd).
In the summer of 2010, Tor Lind was also on tour, and this time as Belcore in Skånska Operan’s production of Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore”. And in the summer and autumn of 2009 he appeared in Vadstena Academy and Frederik Österling acclaimed “cultural operetta“ Näsflöjten, where he received rave reviews for his performance as press secretary Pressman.
Among his previous roles includes Papageno and Guglielmo from Mozart‘s operas, as well as Dandini and Figaro from Rossini.
Tor Lind was born in 1979 in Lund, and began singing in the boys’ choir in the age of seven. 2000 – 2003 he studied solo singing at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm for Christina Öqvist-Matton, and continued his education 2003-2006 at the Academy Opera in Copenhagen for Professor Kirsten Buhl Møller.
To Lind is very interested in contemporary music and appeard in 2008 in three premieres of newly written operaverk.
Tor Lind has worked with conductors such as Christian Badea, Nicholas Braithwaite, Hannu Lintu, Guido Ajmone-Marsan, Thomas Søndergaard, Tobias Ringborg and Pietro Rizzo.
In Denmark, he among others has performed with orchestras such as the Tivoli Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Esbjerg ensemble and Athelas Sinfonietta.
Tor Lind has received scholarships from, among others the Royal Academy of Music’s funds, OVIS , Sandrews, Building and Danish Gramex and received the Lund Cultural Scholarship of 2006.
Since a few years back he is working with Philip Doghan, Professor of Voice at the Royal Academy of Music.
